Soto Lead Contender

On Monday November 10th, Cubs catcher Geovanny Soto will find out if he has won the National League Rookie of the Year for the 2008 season. I am really pulling for Soto and not just because I am a Cubs fan. Soto had an incredible season and he really showed leadership and drive. For such a young player, he really stepped up and delivered and should be proud of what he has accomplished.

During the 2008 season Soto hit .285, which included 23 homeruns, 35 doubles and 86 RBIs. Out of all Rookies, he led with the most RBIs. Soto also caught during the 2008 All-Star Game. Soto is still a younger player with a lot of room to grow. I am excited to see how he will perform in the coming seasons.

In October Soto was named Rookie of the Year by Sports News. He also received the Players Choice Top Freshmen of 2008 award.

I will really be pulling for Soto this weekend and I will make the big announcement Monday. Also on Monday night, I will be featuring a running blog game story. I will be watching football.. Yikes! (Sorry---I'm a baseball fan) and blogging the entire time.. should be fun! So tune in and check it out!

Enjoy the Weekend..and for those of you who are lucky enough to go to the Penn State Game... (I have to go out of town unfortunately) HAVE FUN, BE SAFE, AND GO HAWKS!
