MLB.com sadly reported that Cubs catcher Henry Blanco's brother was found dead in Venezuela. Carlos Simon Blanco Sanchez was kidnapped Sunday and found shot Monday evening. Blanco had reportedly been in the negotiation process to save his brother's life. The kidnappers were asking for a reported $200 million.
Blanco is currently in Venezuela playing winter ball for the Margarita Bravos. My condolences to Henry Blanco and family for their loss.
The Chicago Cubs are scheduled to begin Spring training on February 25th in Mesa against the LA Dodgers.
