Over the weekend, MLB.com reported that several Cubs players have filed for free agency. These players include:
Ryan Dempster
Henry Blanco
Kerry Wood
Jim Edmonds
Chad Fox
Bob Howry
Jon Lieber
Daryle Ward
These players have less than two weeks to resign with the Chicago Cubs. Players may talk with other clubs but they can't discuss salary issues. In an interview with MLB.com, Cubs General Manager Jim Hendry said the Cubs will move forward with what they believe is the best for the Club. I will keep you posted with any updates.

Isn't it depressing? I wish everything could stay the same :( and I'm losing CC!
Retaining Dempster and Wood ought to be the highest priorities. I'd say re-sign Blanco because he's a decent back-up catcher and someone for young Geo to learn from. Edmonds wouldn't be a bad one to keep, but I could go either way. I'm just not yet ready to give up Pie and we already have Johnson. As far as the rest, I couldn't care less. The one I WANT GONE is Howry. As long as he's gone, I'll be happy.
